Our 2017 Summer Intensive and Teachers Training will be held in Riga, Latvia for two weeks from July 17th through the 30th. This was the site of our 2014 programs and we are excited to return. Riga, the capital of Latvia, is considered the pearl of the Baltics. With a heritage dating back 800 years, the architecture of Riga is beauteous and diverse. Each century has left its marks in the architecture in the Old Town and City Centre where the cultural heritage coexists with the quick pace of modern living. Among various reasons for choosing Riga as our location, it is the birthplace and childhood home of our mentor, friend and supporter - Mikhail Baryshnikov.

This year’s training will again take place at the studios of the Riga Choreographic School. Housing arrangements will be at the nearby Bellevue Hotel. The studios are within walking distance of the hotel and public transportation is available.

Ideal students have a passion for dance and for learning. Participants have come from many countries including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, UK, and the United States. Men’s Program

Learn from the finest male teachers. Cyril Atanasoff, Etoile of Opera de Paris, and Vladilen Semenov, Mariinsky Theatre, both with the designation as Danseur Noble and l’Etoile, respectively, both are of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a dancer.

They will not only teach technique, variations and pas de deux classes, they will also share their experience, as highly honored dancers, in special men's classes during the Intensive. The classes will be kept small and therefore they will offer a lot of personal attention.

The role of a male dancer is to tell a story. This requires the dancer to understand many historical nuances from past centuries. It is the male dancer's role to show his masculinity and/or charisma along side the female so he too can standout and shine on stage. They must show proper manners and respect often as royalty. Today, the traditional training schools do not always have a seasoned male professional to pass on these subtle, but very important, traits that a successful dancer must learn. We feel very strongly that learning this along with perfecting technique is of the utmost importance and these teachers are some of the best, most experienced teachers to do so.

We will be offering a few scholarships to males who are interested in attending the program. All scholarships granted will be based on merit.

Our two week program will conclude in a showcase with family of students who travel to Riga, Latvia as our guests.

At the 2017 Summer Intensive iin Riga, Latvia, the director of the Latvian National Ballet will observe classes and the final performance. Don't miss your opportunity to be seen. Candidates for our Elite Training Program and Performances like "Cinderella" come from our training participants.
